Deleting your Spoonhouse account
You can delete your Spoonhouse account whenever you like. This page explains how, what goes, and what stays with the people you live with.
In the app
- Open Spoonhouse and go to More, then Settings.
- Scroll down to Account and tap Delete my account.
- If you look after your household (you're its owner) and other people are in it, choose who takes over. You can do this in the same step.
- Check it's you, with your passkey or an email link. This has to be in the last 5 minutes.
- Tap Delete my account. The app signs you out and clears its copy from your phone.
It happens straight away and can't be undone.
What is deleted
- Your account: your name, the email you sign in with, and your sign-in itself.
- Your passkeys and recovery codes, as far as Spoonhouse is concerned. Your phone or password manager may still list the passkey; you can delete it there too.
- Everything in My meds: your medicines, doses and the times you took them, including anything you had shared.
- Your place in the household, your phones, your notification choices and quiet hours.
- Your chat settings, saved messages, read times and typing, and your chat phones' keys. The others' phones make a new chat key without you.
- Your wish list, gift claims you made, and anyone's claims on your own wishes.
- Our records of the notifications we sent you and of invite links you made or used.
What stays with your household
Things you made for everyone stay, because the others rely on them: lists and items, events, chores, boards, plans, pets, and chat messages you sent. Where the app would show your name, it shows "Former member" instead.
If you are the last person in your household, the whole household is deleted with you, including its photos and any invite links still waiting.
Asking by email
If you can't get into the app (say your phone is lost), email hello@spoonhouse.app from the address you use with Spoonhouse, or tell us your name and household. We'll check it's really you, delete your account the same way, and reply when it's done, usually within a week.
Copies on your phone
Deleting from the app clears the app's copy on that phone. On any other phone where you were signed in, the app stops working for you and clears its copy the next time it opens. Uninstalling the app also removes everything it kept on the phone.
